Florence 1 Schools has announced a partnership with Blue Zones aimed at supporting the well-being and longevity of its teachers, staff, students, families, and the Greater Florence community. The district cites research indicating that volunteering can improve well-being and job satisfaction. In response, the school board has introduced a program allowing employees to be rewarded for volunteering locally.

The district is currently seeking community organizations that offer non-religious and non-political volunteer opportunities. These organizations would provide settings where Florence 1 Schools employees can spend a day away from work to serve on behalf of the district. Interested groups are encouraged to contact Nathaniel Marshall, Chief Personnel Officer for Florence 1 Schools, at nathaniel.marshall@f1s.org to share available volunteer opportunities.
