The 2025-2026 Fellows in Education class, consisting of 32 participants, visited Greenwood Elementary School last week. The visit was part of a program aimed at giving community leaders insight into the workings of schools within Florence 1 Schools over a nine-month period.

During the visit, Principal Tina Johnson and her staff discussed the school’s academic programs and introduced this year’s theme: “Back to the Basics!” This approach emphasizes high standards for rigor, accountability, and student engagement as essential elements for educational growth.

Participants observed classroom activities and toured school facilities. Local students performed musical pieces during lunch.

The Fellows in Education program is a collaborative effort between Florence 1 Schools, the School Foundation, and the Greater Florence Chamber of Commerce. It provides monthly experiences that highlight different aspects of education and encourages leaders to support educational improvement in their communities.
