The Casa Grande Public Library is hosting a variety of events and programs in the coming weeks at both its Main Library and Vista Grande Library locations.

A month-long reading challenge is open to children, teens, and adults. Children ages 0-12 can pick up an activity sheet and complete ten tasks to earn a prize. Teens and adults are encouraged to read five books and log them on the Beanstack app to receive a reading-themed pin. Registration is available at either library location.

On October 28 at 10 a.m., the Main Library in Peart Park will hold a Trick-or-Treat Storytime event where costumes are encouraged. The storytime will be followed by StoryWalk trick-or-treating, with participants asked to bring their own treat bags. Later that day, at 3:30 p.m., the Vista Grande Library will offer a mask-making activity for kids, with templates provided.

A technology class focused on iPad and iPhone basics will take place on October 30 from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the Main Library. No registration is required for this session.

On November 1 from 10 to 11 a.m., Vista Grande Library will host a Day of the Dead event featuring stories, snacks, and sugar-skull decorating for children.

Students in grades six through twelve can participate in an eleven-week board game series held Thursdays at 4 p.m. at the Main Library, introducing new games each week.

The Crochet & Knitting Club meets Fridays from 3:30 to 5 p.m. at Vista Grande Library for ages twelve and up; some yarn is provided but participants should bring their own supplies.

Spanish Conversation Gatherings are scheduled for Thursdays from noon to 1 p.m. at Vista Grande Library, offering an informal setting for practicing Spanish language skills.

English as a Second Language (ESL) classes are offered Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:30 a.m. to noon at Vista Grande Library without need for registration; all levels are welcome.

A genealogy workshop titled “Using Maps for Genealogy” is planned for November 3 from 10:00 to 11:15 a.m. at Vista Grande Library.

Monthly gardening presentations by University of Arizona Cooperative Extension Master Gardeners continue this fall at Vista Grande Library:
– November 8: “Beyond Rows: Square Foot, Intercropping, Chaos Gardening”
– December 13: “Tips, Tricks, and Some of Our Favorite Products & Tools”
After each presentation, attendees can visit the library’s Seed Library.

The Beanstack App supports year-round reading challenges such as “25 in 25,” encouraging readers to finish twenty-five books in one year, as well as “1000 Books Before Kindergarten” aimed at young children before they start school.

Volunteer opportunities include joining the Mayor’s Reading Club by spending one hour per month reading with students in kindergarten through third grade.

Adults can access free online learning resources via Universal Class using their library card; this service also benefits homeschoolers and college students.

Study rooms are available by reservation online, by phone or in person at both library branches.

Book and material donations are being accepted by Friends of the Casa Grande Public Library; those wishing to donate large items should call ahead first.

Library hours remain Monday through Friday with weekend availability:
– Main Library (449 N. Drylake Street): Monday–Friday from nine a.m. until seven p.m.; Saturday nine a.m.–five p.m.
– Vista Grande Library (1556 N. Arizola Rd): Monday–Friday eight a.m.–six p.m.; Saturday nine a.m.–five p.m.
