The Casa Grande Animal Care & Adoption Center will host a community event on Saturday, October 18, featuring the kickoff of a new mural at its facility, located at 202 E. First Avenue. The event is scheduled from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

The event aims to bring together art, community involvement, and pet adoption, with several activities planned for attendees. Dog adoptions will be offered for free from October 18 to 24, sponsored by Best Friends Rescue. Cat adoptions will be available for $25. The event will also include free microchipping and an AZ VET Mobile Unit vaccine clinic.

“We’re so excited to bring the community together for this creative project,” said Cerise Shanafelt, Animal Control Supervisor. “The new mural will not only brighten our facility but also celebrate the bond between people, pets, and our community.”

Local artist Anisa Burke will be present during the event, engaging with visitors as she works on the mural. Attendees are encouraged to interact with Burke and observe her creative process.

Several animal rescue organizations will participate in the day’s activities, providing services such as dog spa treatments, dog walking, kennel cleaning, and supporting donation drives. Participating groups include Paw Posse, IncrediBull Stella / Stella’s Rescue Rehab, Aussie Pet Mobile, and Best Friends Rescue.

“Working alongside local rescue organizations allows us to expand our reach, provide more comprehensive care, and give every animal a better chance at finding a loving home. Together, we’re building a stronger network of compassion and support for animals in our community,” said Shanafelt.
