The American Red Cross is seeking volunteers to serve as Regional Duty Officers. These volunteers play a key role in triaging requests to determine if action from the Red Cross is necessary and may decide if the Disaster Action Team (DAT) should respond. They also use specific event triggers, such as the size, scope, and type of incident, to escalate the DAT response when required. In addition, they work with on-scene DAT leadership to support ongoing responses and provide technical guidance.

To qualify for this volunteer position, candidates must have reliable access to a computer, internet, and a phone. They should be comfortable using and learning new technology and be committed to utilizing RC Care and RC Respond systems as needed. The role requires individuals who can prioritize multiple tasks in complex, rapidly changing, and stressful situations. Applicants must be at least 18 years old and possess strong written and verbal communication skills. The ability to work for extended periods on a computer is also essential.

Those interested in volunteering can find more information or sign up at www.redcross.org/volunteer.
