The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) has announced plans to make several improvements to State Route 187 (SR 187) aimed at reducing congestion and improving safety. The project includes the addition of a right-turn lane on northbound SR 187 approaching SR 87, a left-turn lane on northbound SR 187 approaching Casa Grande Road, and a right-turn lane on southbound SR 87 approaching SR 187.

Additional work will involve widening SR 187 to provide 8-foot paved shoulders, removing and replacing the asphalt, constructing drainage improvements, and replacing bridge railing. According to ADOT, the project is expected to be completed by spring 2026.

Construction activities are scheduled to take place on weekdays between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. During this period, motorists may experience traffic delays as the roadway may be reduced to a single lane with alternating traffic at times. Drivers are encouraged to use SR 387 as an alternate route. More information about the project is available on the ADOT website at https://azdot.gov/projects/southcentral-district-projects/state-route-187-sr-387-sr-87-improvement-project.
