No full closures are planned for state highways in the Phoenix area during the Christmas and New Year’s weekends, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT). The agency issued a travel advisory covering December 24 through January 5.

ADOT encourages drivers to remain attentive and prioritize safety. “Please stay alert, expect the unexpected and focus on safe driving when you’re behind the wheel. Keep your speed in check, always buckle up and never drive while impaired,” ADOT stated.

The department also advises motorists to be ready to slow down and merge safely near any existing work zones. Additional safety recommendations can be found on ADOT’s Weekend Travel Advisory Map, which is available online as a PDF or through their website for more detailed information about current restrictions.
