The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) has announced that no full mainline freeway closures are planned for the Phoenix area during the weekend of December 12-15, 2025. However, motorists should be aware of several lane closures and restrictions that may affect travel.

According to ADOT, sections of Interstate 17 will be reduced to one lane in either direction overnight between State Route 74 (Carefree Highway) and Anthem Way. These restrictions will be in place from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. on Friday and Saturday nights, December 12-13.

Additionally, Riggs Road will be closed in both directions at the Interstate 10 interchange from 9 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday, December 15. Drivers are advised to use Queen Creek Road as an alternative route during this period.

For more information about these and other restrictions scheduled for the weekend, travelers can visit azdot.gov for updates and access a map outlining all affected areas.
